课程的教学目的与任务

Purposes and Tasks of the Course

As a basicprofessional coursefor undergraduates specializing in International Politics, “Western International Relations Theories” introduces the basic Western theoriesof International Relations in order to train students to apply and criticize the international relations theory. Furthermore theexploration helps students to better analyze and understand the complicatedinternational issues and the world system, which redounds to improve patriotism and international view and settles a bed rock for the degree dissertation and furtheracademic progresses. The methods, based on bilingual teaching, take the form of both lecture and discussion.

Basic Demands of the Course

1. Introduce the tri-theory including realism, liberalism and constructivism, as well as theEnglish School, criticism.

2. Compare both the differences and the commons among different schools and demonstrate the venation of the development of international relations theory.

3. Evaluate and criticize the international relation theories in existence.
